Appliance Removal

Appliance Removal Services

Appliance removal in Evanston is a service the city will not provide. Evanston’s bulk pickup program specifically excludes appliances, which leaves homeowners stuck with a dead refrigerator in the kitchen or a washer in the basement. Duval Junk Removal disconnects, carries out and hauls away old appliances, then routes them to metal recyclers and refrigerant-safe facilities.

Appliance Removal Evanston FAQ

How much does it cost to remove a refrigerator in Evanston?

Refrigerator removal with Duval typically costs $95 to $150, including refrigerant handling and recycling.

Will the City of Evanston pick up my old appliance?

No. The city's bulk pickup program does not collect appliances of any kind. You need a private hauler or a retailer take-back program.

Do I need to disconnect the appliance?

Please unplug it. For gas or water connections, either shut them off or let us know and we can disconnect standard connections.

Do you recycle appliances?

Yes. Metal appliances go to scrap recyclers. Refrigerant is recovered by certified facilities before recycling.

Can you remove a water heater from the basement?

Yes. Drain it first if possible, or ask us to. We carry it up the stairs and out.

Do you take working appliances?

Yes. Working units in good condition may be donated rather than scrapped.
